Lenovo Yoga 6 13ALC6
Lenovo has a bold new approach to the laptop chassis, outfitting the Lenovo Yoga 6 13ALC6 with an abyss blue fabric cover that looks and feels like a pair of denim jeans. Embedded in the top corner of the fabric is the “YOGA” logo, while the opposite bottom corner has the “Lenovo” emblem in a glossy chrome. The abyss blue continues into the interior portion of the laptop, with a smooth, blue deck and a decent sized keyboard that has top-firing speakers on either side. The side bezels surrounding the screen are small, while the top is just large enough to support the webcam, but that bottom bezel is a chunker. Since it’s a 2-in-1 laptop, you can fold the lid 90, 180 and 360 degrees, allowing you to put it in a tent or tablet mode, which is nice for folks that either just want to look at the display or want to do a bit of sketching.
The Lenovo Yoga 6 13ALC6 is equipped with the AMD Ryzen 7 5700U is an APU of the Lucienne product family designed for leaner laptops. The Ryzen features eight Zen 2 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz (base clock speed) to 4.3 GHz (Boost) as well as a Vega 8 iGPU. Thread-doubling SMT tech is enabled in this CPU for up to 16 concurrent processing threads. In spite of what its name may suggest, Ryzen 7 5700U is not a Zen 3 part, meaning this is a Ryzen 4000 series mobile processor in disguise. Nevertheless, the CPU is manufactured on the modern 7 nm TSMC process and its performance as well as energy efficiency figures are very strong compared to what Intel currently has to offer in this segment.
The display of Lenovo Yoga 6 13ALC6 13.3 inches diagonally, with a full HD (1,920-by-1,080-pixel) native resolution. That’s average these days, but the quality is good. This is a touch panel, a given since this is a convertible laptop, so it has a glossy finish instead of matte. This usually makes colors pop a bit more than the alternative matte finish, but there are also more reflections off glass, so mind your lighting setup. The panel is rated at 300 nits. The colors and sharpness are solid as well.
The fabric is an interesting selling point that we recommend users to see and feel in person before purchasing. It’s a breath of fresh air from the typical smooth metal, but it also risks going out of style.
