Design
The HP ProBook 450 G7 seems like a refresh of its predecessor which is a pretty decent machine. The new one (or maybe we can call it the refreshed one) comes with 10th gen Comet Lake CPU options, an IPS screen (option), and a good exterior look. The body is made of plastic and aluminum, and the result isn’t bad but we observed some flexes so maybe for the next successor HP has to improve the build quality. The good news is that the 2020 model isn’t too hot under heavy load so it will not roast your fingers but it’s a bit loud so keep that in mind if you prefer quiet machines.
Processor
The HP Probook 450 G7 Intel Core i7-10510U is a power efficient quad-core SoC for notebooks based on the Comet Lake (CML-U) generation and was announced in August 2019. Compared to the similar Whiskey Lake processors, the only difference is support for higher memory speeds (DDR4-2666, LPDDR4-2933) and two additional cores in the top model (not in this i7-10510U). The processor cores are clocked between 1.8 and 4.9 GHz (all 4 cores 4.3 GHz max). Thanks to Hyper-Threading 8 threads can be used. Thanks to the high clock speeds, the processor performance of the i7-10510U is very good for its class.
