HP PAVILION 15-EH0002AU

HP PAVILION 15-EH0002AU Price in Pakistan

The HP Pavilion series has been the go-to option for value-buyers looking to get the most out of their purchase. In fact, that’s been the Pavilion’s strongest selling point for years, with more premium features reserved for the Spectre and Envy series. The new HP PAVILION 15-EH0002AU also sticks to the same idea but there are some surprising additions that make it feel more like a premium machine without costing nearly as much.

Design

When compared to the older 2019 design, the 2021 model has narrower top and bottom bezels for a smaller footprint while using the same metal and plastic materials. The speaker grilles along the top of the keyboard are now gone for a more simplistic appearance. It’s a basic matte impression with none of the flashy chrome-cut trims or sharp MacBook-like edges of the Spectre or Envy, respectively. Whether it looks any better than a competing Asus VivoBook or Lenovo IdeaPad is up to user preference.

Processor

The HP PAVILION 15-EH0002AU is equipped with The AMD Ryzen 7 4700U is a processor for thin and light laptops based on the Renoir architecture. The 4700U integrates all eight cores based on the Zen 2 microarchitecture. They are clocked at 2 (guaranteed base clock) to 4.1 GHz (Turbo). There is no support for the thread-doubling SMT tech. The chip is manufactured on the modern 7 nm TSMC process and partly thanks to it AMD advertises a 2x improved performance per Watt for the Renoir chips. Compared to the faster R7 4800U, the 4700U offers slightly lower clock speeds and no support for SMT / Hyperthreading.

Display

The HP Pavilion Laptop 15 comes with a 15.6″ FHD IPS display which reveals itself as you open the lid. The display has an aspect ratio of 16:9. It is surrounded by plastic bezels on all four sides, which as I have mentioned in the design section of this review, looks very cheap compared to the other parts of the laptop. The 720p HD camera on the front is good enough to handle your Google Meet and Zoom calls.

Keyboard

Keyboard layout of HP PAVILION 15-EH0002AU has changed slightly from the 2019 model. The power button, for example, is now a regular keyboard key instead of being off to the left corner. Otherwise, the typing experience remains largely the same. Feedback is surprisingly firm and with good travel to be better than the spongier and lighter keys of the Asus VivoBook or Lenovo IdeaPad. The NumPad keys offer similar feedback to the QWERTY keys for a good sense of uniformity. It’s unfortunate that the NumPad keys are narrower and therefore more cramped for larger fingers.

Touchpad

The Touchpad of HP PAVILION 15-EH0002AU is Precision clickpad which is relatively large at 11.5 x 7.4 cm to be essentially the same as the clickpad on the pricier Envy 15 Creator. Traction is smooth when gliding at medium-to-fast speeds while slower speeds will result in moderate sticking to aid in precision. On the other hand, clicking on the clickpad is both shallow and spongy for an uncomfortable experience without an external mouse.
